Acupuncture involves placing very thin, filiform needles into energetically significant points on the body as a way to communicate with the nervous system.
By smoothing out electrical fluctuations, internal systems are given a chance to harmonize and collaborate. People often report feeling a deep sense of ease and relaxation at a core level. Patterns embedded in the nervous system are able to reflect upon themselves and release.
Benefits can include restored mobility, improved digestion, soothed emotions, as well as improvements with pain, hormones, sleep, immunity, mental clarity, respiration, and circulation. Slowly but surely our natural rhythms can be restored to a state of natural balance.
The nervous system can be gently trained to learn new patterns. Acupuncture can help both improve long standing imbalances, as well as fortify existing states of good health.
What is community acupuncture and what can I expect in a visit?
Community Acupuncture is acupuncture that happens in a shared space (there can be 3-4 people in the same room in chairs near each other). At your first visit, there will be an initial health background form you will fill out to let the practitioner know what brings you to the clinic. Please wear loose fitting clothes and expect to take your socks and shoes off at your chair.
The acupuncturist will talk to you about how you are feeling, and insert pins in a specific configuration to address your current state. Once the pins are in, you can sit for as long as feels comfortable. An average session lasts 30-60 minutes.
People often report entering a state of deep relaxation. You will feel what happens in your body, observe the mind, get quiet, notice latent tension dissipating, be curious about sensations, and enjoy.
When you are ready to get up, you will open your eyes to signal that you are ready and the acupuncturist will come by and take out your pins. Take your time as you get up, steady your balance, and hydrate well.
We offer community style acupuncture on a sliding scale of $15-$50. The clinic accepts cash, check and credit cards.
Community style allows prices to be kept at rates that everyone can afford, especially people who are choosing not to get regular and frequent acupuncture due to the cost. Acupuncture is for everyone. The cost of a treatment is on a sliding scale and you may freely decide what it is worth to you, no questions asked. The goal is to choose a price that allows you to come regularly, so that you may witness the benefits of consistent acupuncture.
